Erica Tingey - Owner and Founder

Erica is the CEO of Women in the Mountains. She has been teaching skills clinics since 2011 and has worked with over 3,000 athletes! Working with beginners to pro racers, she has been able to connect with every level of rider to help them build on their skills progression. Erica raced mountain bikes professionally from 2010 to 2017. She raced to the front of the field to secure multiple podiums on the National level over her career and raced several international World Cups on the mountain bike. She won 2 Masters National Championship titles on the road (Time Trial and Road Race). She and her husband have a teenage son and they live in Park City, Utah. For 2023, she is supported by JAMIS bicycles for the 11th season in a row. With a great support crew and loving family, she is able to fulfill her dreams of empowering women on and off the bike. Erica is a PMBIA certified mountain bike coach, WFR certified and a certified Life Coach. .

Shelly Wedge - Coach

Trained and experienced in a variety of learning environments, Shelly has contributed to a number of innovative and effective programs. Shelly's path has progressed through the classrooms of typical public schools to the special challenges of students and families serving in the armed services, and then on to special needs facilities. She is a mom (two daughters), and the wife of a U.S. Marine, now a technology executive. She has coached skiing, gymnastics, freestyle ski jumping, swimming, and currently serve as the lead coach for Basin Recreation Center’s adult and youth mountain bike programs. In addition, she leads weekly mountain bike rides for ‘At Risk’ youth for the Salt Lake City Bicycle Collective. She is PSIA, PMBIA, and IMBA Certified, collectively for the past 14 years. In every aspect of life, she has sought to engage and encourage people to grasp and express their gifts and talents.

Jen Scott - Coach

Jen has over 20 years of coaching and educational experience in the outdoor industry. As a ski coach, she has designed and implemented very successful co-ed and women’s camp programs. She is now integrating her in-depth coaching knowledge to mountain bike coaching. Jen is married to a Wild land firefighter and the mom of 2 boys (12 and 15). She is a triathlete, former ski racer, and nurse (RN) when needed. Her family lives in Sandy, Utah close to amazing skiing in the winter. “Coaching is one of my favorite things, it allows me to connect with people and help them find as much joy in mountain biking as I do!” She is a PSIA Level 3 ski instructor, and a certified PMBIA level 1 coach, working towards her level 2 certification in 2022.

Melissa Stevens - Business Operations

Melissa grew up skiing on the east coast before moving to Utah in 2013 to seek out the so-called best snow on earth. In 2019 she set out to New Zealand to be a ski instructor for the season and loved it so much that she immediately started a second season of instructing upon returning to Park City and is PSIA certified. She has spent most of her career in finance, digital marketing, and writing. Melissa resides in Salt Lake City, but is always seeking out her next mountain bike destination.

Cheryl Anderson - Coach

Cheryl grew up Salt Lake City, skiing, biking and hiking with her family her entire life. Once she moved to Park City 20 years ago, her love of mountain biking grew. She loves sharing her passion for riding with Brand New Mountain Bikers.
Cheryl is a certified Life Coach through the Life Coach School.

Laura Dickey - Technical Writer

Laura grew up in the mountains of Northern Utah, where she became an avid mountain biker, skier, hiker, backpacker, and rock climber. After college, she lived in and explored Japan, Thailand, and Boston; however, the mountains and red rocks eventually lured her back. She has spent most of her career involved in medical research, writing, and education, but often has one eye out the window—daydreaming about her next adventure. She has taught several outdoor recreation and wilderness survival courses, and is a Girl Scout leader. Laura lives in Salt Lake City with her husband, their two spirited daughters, and dozens of dying houseplants. She loves being a part of the Women in the Mountains community!
