Round Valley in the Snow

Chrispy & I rode yesterday in the snow at Round Valley. The groomed (for multi-use, not just nordic skiers) trails were in great shape for the most part. The single track, was, well, challenging. You had to stay right in the middle of about an 8 inch wide trail and even then you weren't necessarily safe from endo-ing or a side slump. Both sides of the trail have about 2 feet of powder that will suck your wheel right in. I'd say I fell about 30 times in the 3 miles of single track we rode. Chris did much better than I did, but he took a few spills too. By the end I had snow up my sleeves and up my back and the frustration started to set it. We had to carry our bikes the last few hundred yards to get back to the groomed trails. But darn-it, we rode our bikes in the snow!
Apparently we were a bit of a spectacle because a few friends on FB say they saw us, including the Niner Bike crew. They were all on skis, perhaps the better tool for yesterday.

The National has the coolest song that I can't get enough of right now. Bloodbuzz Ohio will cut you to the core, just take a listen, with headphones on.
